YORK, Pa. — Unstoppable You Ministries held their second annual Anti-Human Trafficking Safety Summit at the Logos Academy in York Saturday morning.
The event brought together members of the local community and survivors sharing their stories.
At 13 years old, Justice Maddox said her life changed forever.
“I was taken from my family at the age of 13,” Maddox said.
Maddox said she was trafficked for six months before reuniting with her family. Now, the Harrisburg woman is using her experience to help other children avoid the same trauma.
Through her nonprofit, Justice House of Hope, Maddox, as president and CEO, helps at-risk youth and children who have been trafficked recover and rebuild their lives.
“My responsibility today is to be able to be the voice for those that do not have a voice, to be able to speak about this trauma,” Maddox said.
The event brought together survivors, advocates, law enforcement officers, and community organizations to educate families about human trafficking, online safety, and ways to recognize potential warning signs.
